Flames due to Some Ignition Sources

Potential sources of ignition, which can cause EO vapours to explode, are decomposing acetylides, static electricity, and excess heat. Exposure of an uninsulated or uncooled vessel containing EO to fire is one of the most serious initiations of explosions.
Improper and casual design of safety measures can result in release of large quantity of flammable vapours. EO vapours have the potential to cause vapour cloud explosion, the most dangerous and destructive explosions in chemical process industry.
