CHEMICAL
DATA OR PROPERTIES
Phosphoric acid is chemically quite inactive at room
temperature. At high temperature phosphoric acid is fairly reactive towards
most metals. It has a potentially violent reaction with sodium
tetrahydroborate. It react with chlorides + S.S. to form explosive hydrogen
gas. It also forms explosive mixture with nitromethane.
0-phosphoric acid is a tri-basic acid. Strong as regards the
first dissociation. Moderable weak as regard the second and -very weak as
regard the third. Pure a 100 % 0-H3P04 is a white
crystalline solid (monoclin) that melts at much lower temperature.
Phosphoric acid is chemically quite inactive at room
temperature. At high temperature phosphoric acid is fairly reactive towards
most metal and their oxides. In oil solution phosphoric acid has pleasingly
sour taste, which is similar but distinguishable from that other food acids
such as citric acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid, and acetic acid. If is not
volatile. It is toxic by ingenction. It is irritant to skin and eyes. It is not
combustible. Vapour pressure of H3P04 solution (mm Hg).
