Meaning Of Research Methodology:

Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. It may be understood as science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it we study various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his research problem along with logic behind them. It is necessary for researcher to know not only the research methods/ techniques but also the methodology. Research methodology has many dimensions and research methods do constitutes a part of the research methodology. 1.     Descriptive vs. Analytical

The main features of this method are that the researcher has no control over the variables; he can only report what has happened or what is happening.

2.     Applied vs. Fundamental

Applied research or fundamental research aims are finding a solution for immediate problem facing a society or an individual or business organization. For example:- Research studies, concerning human behavior carried on with a view to make generalization about human behavior.

3.     Quantitative vs. qualitative

Quantitative research based on quantity and amount. It is applicable to phenomena that can be expressed it terms of quality. Qualitative research, on the other hand, is concerned with qualitative phenomena.

4.     Conceptual Vs Emparitical

Conceptual research is that related to some abstract idea or theory. It is generally used by philosophers and thinkers to develop new concepts. On the other hand, empirical research relies on experience or observation alone. It is data based research.
